Brits dream of 'eye-catching' cars
Markedly different attitudes to their cars between men and women have been noted by financial website Fool.co.uk.
When asked their preferences for their dream motor, 39 per cent of men said that they hankered for the wow factor, with their car drawing "envious looks" from passers-by.
By contrast, a similar proportion of women said that "excellent green credentials" would be an important feature of their dream car.
Half of the "boy racer" group of 18 to 25-year-old men said that they wanted a "flash" car - an expensive motor that could have big car loan and car insurance costs.
This figure went up even higher among girls, with 60 per cent seeking a bit of "mobile glamour".
Nevertheless, a hard core of 31 per cent across all age groups and genders said that getting from A to B was "all that mattered" about their vehicle.
Taking out a personal loan or securing a loan on the vehicle itself are both common ways of financing a car purchase.
