Poll: 3m own five or more cards
Over three million adults in the UK, four per cent of the total, have been found to own more than five credit cards.
A new YouGov poll, released yesterday, showed that 78 per cent are credit card owners - with 24 per cent owning two.
What's more, 1.8 million Britons were found to own more than five cards - with many juggling the plastic due to racking up large amounts of personal debt.
Overall, 28 per cent of poll respondents said that they had applied for a card within the last year.
Contained within this figure is the seven per cent who applied for more than one.
The British Bankers' association has said recently that a total of £30.4 billion is owed on credit cards in Britain.
YouGov's study showed that, region by region, residents of London were the most likely to own multiple pieces of plastic - while conservative Scots were the least likely to hold more than one card.
The research was carried out on behalf of finance firm MoneyExpert.
