fairinvestment.co.uk recommends ethical finance
Consumers should consider finding out more about ethical finance options during Fairtrade fortnight, fairinvestment.co.uk has said.
The products have become increasingly popular in recent years and are offered by banks such as the Co-op or Triodos.
Banks offering ethical finance commonly promise that they will invest in sustainable and eco-friendly businesses.
Other features of the products involve pledges from the savings, credit card, personal loan or home loan provider that they will not invest in sectors such as the arms trade or GM crops.
Director at fairinvestment.co.uk James Caldwell said: "Consumers [have] become more determined to make socially informed choices in terms of where they keep their cash."
He added: "Ethical accounts don't always promise to pay the highest rates of interest you may not get the lowest rates with a green mortgage, but they can allow people to have a direct impact on people's lives or on the environment."
Fairtrade fortnight runs until Sunday March 9th.
