Apacs advises on credit card compensation
Payments association Apacs has given advice to consumers on how to claim back money lost on credit cards used overseas.
Faulty or defective goods worth between £100 and £30,000 are protected by the Consumer Credit Act, meaning that users can claim compensation from their issuer.
Apacs advises that the only evidence needed of the transaction is for it to show up on statements.
Spokesman Mark Bowerman commented: "The transaction would be on the statement and the credit card company would have records of it.
"They would just have to flag it up with their card company and the card company would tell them what they need to do."
Research from Barclaycard has shown that Turkey tops the table of UK overseas credit card fraud, closely followed by France, the US and Spain.
The credit card compensation - which does not apply to goods purchased on debit cards - was set last year by a landmark ruling in the House of Lords.
