Website warns on stag and hen costs
Paying for a wedding is one of the biggest costs a couple can face, outside of purchasing a home.
Figures from hitched.co.uk show that the average expenditure on a marriage ceremony, and all the surrounding celebrations, in the UK stands at £17,000.
Therefore, the specialist website has advised that all couples should budget carefully for the events.
In particular, stag and hen parties were flagged up as a 'hidden cost' for many couples.
Spokesperson for hitched.co.uk Francesca Moore advised: "We recommend that the stag/hen party is built into the wedding budget from the very beginning so that there are no excuses not to have a fantastic night each.
"I think people are more willing to go a little bit further these days or spend those few extra pounds to have a night to remember."
Many couples fund their marriage celebrations either through their savings, through an unsecured loan or a personal loan.
