Money worries top conversation subject for Brits
Increased house prices, loan rates and inflation are among the most talked about subjects in the UK.
The majority of Britons speak about the financial climate more than sport, politics and celebrities.
Some 50 per cent of borrowers have discussed home loans and other finance issues over the past few weeks, sharing woes and passing on tips to family members friends and colleagues.
This compares to 26 per cent who have talked about celebrities and 46 per cent who have discussed politics.
Alliance & Leicester also found that despite talking about monetary matters, 52 per cent of Britons do not take advantage of products such as individual savings accounts (ISA).
"Our survey reveals money matters have a firm place at the forefront of peoples minds at the moment," said head of savings Ewan Edwards. "So much so, that people are now discussing financial related issues more than sport or politics.
"Nevertheless," he added. "People still aren't getting all the benefits they could."
