Straw baling for homes 'becoming more popular'
More and more people are using straw baling in the construction of their dream home, amazonails has revealed.
According to the home building firm, 'natural building' techniques are beginning to challenge the more modern concrete and brick construction process used for most homes.
This process is commonly funded by individuals who are building their own home through a loan or through savings.
The recent announcement from the government in its Eco-towns Prospectus that exemplar "green developments" of sustainable homes are to be constructed can also be said to reflect this trend, developing sustainable housing having been earmarked as a way of cutting down on carbon emissions by ministers.
Business support manager at amazonails Rachel Hammond confirmed that many people interested in straw baling were motivated by envrironmental concerns.
The growth in popularity of the technique was "mostly due to the climate change we are expecting in the near future," she said.
"It is noticeable that the people interested in these techniques, are already a lot more aware than even last year."
