Under-25s 'paying more for insurance, no matter what'
Young people pay more for their car insurance regardless of other lifestyle factors, figures from Confused.com show.
Research carried out by the website found that Daniel Radcliffe, the actor famous for portraying Harry Potter, would pay out almost £2,700 more for the cover each year than hard-living rock star Pete Doherty.
This means that the 18-year-old would pay around 367 per cent more for his insurance than the 29-year-old, even though the Babyshambles singer drives around town in a high-cost Jaguar.
"It is frustrating that Daniel Radcliffe, who owns a modest car and lives a 'clean' lifestyle, is expected to pay a high price for his car insurance, just because he is under the age of 25 and living in London," managing director at Confused.com Debra Williams said.
"Despite his rock 'n' roll lifestyle, string of convictions, and swanky Jaguar X-Type, Pete Doherty's insurance is, on average, £2,680 per year cheaper than his youthful celebrity counterpart, predominantly because he is nearly a decade older."
