AHIPP: It's early days for Hips
The new home information packs (Hips), introduced for all homebuyers by the government last year, have proved controversial with the general public.
A recent IPSOS Mori poll revealed that the packs - which contain essential information about the sold property such as searches and the sale statement - "did not make the buying process any easier" for 41 per cent of movers.
However, the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) claimed yesterday that it was "too early" to judge the effect of the policy.
Mike Ockendon, AHIPP director, said: "It's still very, very early days and were starting to see really that it's improving the speed of the conveyancy process.
"If we want to have statistically valuable information that stands challenge and scrutiny it's going to be the summer before that sort of information is available at the earliest."
