'Save big' by buying cars online
Car buyers - who often secure their purchase with a personal loan - can make big savings by shopping online, retailer Motorpoint claimed yesterday.
According to the firm, its customers saved £144 million over dealership prices last year through using their website and telephone hotlines.
Motorpoint also said that it had sold a vehicle to every single post code in the UK last year - confirming the rising popularity of online car shopping.
Operations director Paul Winfield commented: "These preliminary figures for last year show an increase in sales overall, but most exciting is the increased use by customers of our award-winning web site and the facilities it offers.
"This demonstrates to me that the buying public has 'got it' way ahead of some car retail industry pundits who watch online buying trends but who confuse potential customers doing research with actual customers buying a car."
He added: "Our web site is set up to help people who have done their research turn their decision into reality at the best possible price. Increasingly, that seems to be what our online customers want."
