Expats 'earn 40% more'
UK professionals can boost their finances with bigger salaries abroad - with expat pay outpacing domestic equivalents by an average of 40 per cent.
This is the main finding of new research from NatWest International - a study which also identified the United Arab Emirates as the nation in which pay is highest.
The bank claims that the average professional expat earns £67,000, around £20,000 more than he or she would in the UK.
David Isley, head of personal banking at NatWest International, said: "The wage packets of expats are very encouraging for people who are looking to move abroad.
"People who are willing to move abroad not only benefit from bigger earnings in countries such as Spain and Italy, but also have the advantage of a lower cost of living."
Expats also reported additional benefits to living abroad, aside from the financial advantages.
Around seven in ten said that they "felt healthier" since making the move.
