Buckinghamshire 'UK's best place to live'
Buckinghamshire is the best place to live in the UK, a sure-to-be controversial new report has claimed.
According to loans lender Halifax, which conducted the research, residents of the county enjoy high pay, good health and a long life expectancy.
Mortgage loans are also prevalent, with almost four in five residents found to be homeowners.
Perhaps importantly, the county also basked under some of the longest hours of sunshine in the UK, according to Halifax - although it was beaten into second place in the category by the Isle of Wight.
Cambridgeshire was found to be the driest county, while Oxfordshire, Midlothian and Worcestershire enjoyed the lowest levels of unemployment.
Second place on the quality of life survey was taken by nearby Surrey, with Berkshire rounding out a home counties clean sweep.
In Scotland, residents of East Dunbartonshire were found to live the best - although it polled only 15th overall on the survey.
