Iammoving.com sees 'changing patterns'
Increasing numbers of people are selling up their homes and moving into the rental sector, Iammoving.com has claimed.
According to the online change - of - address service, the apparent nationwide house price slowdown is contributing to the trend - with recent research from the site finding that around 18 per cent of home movers are considering making the switch.
Chairman of Iammoving.com, Simon Preston, said: "Were definitely seeing these changing patterns within the home moving market and one would suspect that they will probably continue for a period of time until people gain more confidence about whats going to happen to mortgage rates and house prices."
He added: "I don't think it's just a fad. We're going to have some anxiety in this market for anything from a minimum of three months and more than likely six to 12 months."
Recent house price indices from Nationwide, Hometrack and the Land Registry all suggest that house price inflation has largely ground to a halt - and that homes in many areas are even losing value.
