New 'sub-prime map' released
A map of the UK, showing which areas are most at risk of repossessions, has been released by researchers at Experian.
The new survey was compiled by measuring the relative financial risks of each British households - and revealed a striking north/south divide.
In particular, the likelihood of householders of defaulting on their unsecured loan, homeowner loan or mortgage loan debts was measured by the credit reference agency.
It found an unequal distribution of 'sub-prime' households - in other words, families that have previously fallen behind on loan repayments - to the north of England.
Of the top 200 riskiest areas, 186 were represented by a Labour MP, the Daily Mail reports.
The biggest proportion of sub-prime was found in Sheffield's Brightside area, with Ladywood in Birmingham, North Nottingham and the Walton district of Liverpool rounding out the top four.
Experian's map is published in full in this week's edition of the Spectator magazine.
